Hello to all!
Hoping everyone has survived the epitome of “winter” and you are ready to emerge from hibernation and continue along another year of the creative “PATH”! There is much to discuss and news to relay:
- We have a new website www.pathart.org - currently, the content is the same as the old site however, we have added a page devoted to “Art at Aurelia”. Much on the site needs updating - should you wish to edit a bio or replace a photo or if you have an event to add to the calendar or want to put something on the Classifieds page, please send your request to artists@pathart.org
- Please join us at our first meeting of the year which will be held on Saturday, March 27 at 3:00PM at the Anchor Inn just east of Addison on Route 40 (7780 National Pike, Addison). The restaurant is providing us a separate room for our meeting - food and drink can be ordered from the menu, if desired.
- We have submitted a Grant Application for this year’s Somerset Tourism Grant Program. Funding has been requested to use towards signage to better direct visitors to “Art at Aurelia”. Grant winners will be announced mid-April, keep your fingers crossed!
- PATH is a new member of the Laurel Highlands Visitor Bureau which will provide our group and our events exposure on their website. Additionally, we have joined Confluence Tourism which will post our events/activities on their website.
- While low cost, artist taught classes remain a part of our group agenda, we hope that this year’s “Art at Aurelia” will solidify its status as an annual event with growing artist and visitor participation. The event will be held on the first full weekend in August (Aug. 7 & 8) on the grounds of the lovely restored farmhouse, “Aurelia”, in Addison. While last year’s event was successful considering the short time frame in its planning, we now have the luxury of more time to prepare and the advantage of a list of improvements to work with to make it an even more triumphant affair.
We cannot attain this, however, without our members’ enthusiasm and participation. Please save the dates and plan to attend as an exhibitor - our goal is to increase the number of vendors and attract as many visitors as possible by utilizing advertising, word of mouth, mailings and clear and concise signage. We need your ideas! For example, if we start now, we can find musicians and food vendors to add to the festivities.
- Please note that our fiscal year is Jan - Dec. 2010 membership is now due - $15/individual; $20/family. Dues can be mailed to PATH, P.O. Box 164, Addison, PA 15411 or brought to the meeting and given to Jan Upton-Lloyd. As before, paid members shall not be charged a fee to participate in “Art at Aurelia”.
Please join us on March 27 at the Anchor Inn and feel free to bring any work you’ve completed over the winter or show us what you are working on now.
